Once a month local residents can get up close and personal with airplanes at the Lincoln Regional Airport.
The Lincoln Regional Aviation Association hosts an “Aircraft Display Day” at the Lincoln Airport, also known as Karl Harder Field. Aircraft Display Day allows the public a rare opportunity to enter the airfield.
On the third Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. to noon, several planes fly in to the airfield and park on the tarmac. Members of the public can get a close look and chat with the pilots. Often, vintage aircraft will visit, giving pilots and the public a chance to see restored airplanes. Pilots have an incentive to visit; fuel prices are discounted for those who participate.
The event is casual and no cost to attend. Even though the gates are closed, entry is just a yell away. The best entrance is at the vehicle gate across from the parking lot on Flightline Drive.
